Building up a NAS
Ja, new photos are missing here. The reason is that I am currently trying to de-cloud my data.
I am currently in the process of migrating most of my data including photos towards “on-premise”. The current idea is to build up a small homelab consisting of these components:
a custom-built Network Attached Storage (NAS)
running on a Raspberry Pi 5 with 4GB of RAM
OS itself running with on-board NVMe SSD using PCIe
attached to it just a bunch of disks (JBOD) for data, currently starting with a 2 TB NVMe in an USB 3enclosure
moderating software stack is OpenMediaVault
backups into the cloud (Germany) using Borgbackup
another “app” server that utilises the data on the NAS (besides my computers)
All the stuff is set up using Ansible as far as I come. For monitoring, I am currently checking out Netdata - which looks very promising!
More on that in the future - and yess, new photos are on their way!
