“Two bridges trip“ in Cologne

February 22nd/23rd 2025

That weekend, on Saturday I had to visit the city of Cologne with my daughter to fetch my daughter’s bag from a repair. However, that day some things went wrong and we did not manage to get enough photos.

Since on the following day, Sunday, the weather was much better, we decided to go to Cologne again to take some pictures.

While on the first day, we were more or less around the Kölner Dom (Cathedral), on the second day, we went for a square: starting from Neumarkt, we crossed the Deutzer Brücke over to Deutz, from there we went to the Severinsbrücke back to the other side of the Rhine over to the Rheinauhafen and back to our starting point.

Since I had my 300mm (on APS-C) telezoom attached for the most part, I had quite many pictures showing location A while they were taken from Location B. I decided to put the photos into that segment of WHERE they were taken, not to what they show.

Am Hof

Here, I just made some shots of parts of the Cathedral and surrounding buildings and places. These are the only pic from Saturday, Feb 22nd.

Around Neumarkt and Cäcilienstraße

On the way from where we parked the car to the Deutzer Bridge, we went along Neumarkt and Cäcilienstraße

Same location, but towards the end of the tour on the way back to our car.

Across Deutzer Brücke (bridge)

These pictures were taken from the Deutzer bridge, spanning across the river Rhine. Since most photos have been shot with a telecom, they often show objects far away.

Deutzer Rheinufer & Festplatz

Time for a break on the way over to the Severinsbrücke

Crossing the Severinsbrücke

Going from Deutz back to the other side - towards Rheinauhafen.

Rheinauhafen

Our last station for today. You already have seen many pictures of this location from the previous sections, since its Kranhäuser are a famous motive that can be captured best from the other side of the Rhine or one of the bridges.
